Springtime, Space, visiting friends, talking.

The children really struggled to get up today. I got on with unpacking the shopping, the washing and had a general tidy round before finally prising Sam out of his bed.

He is achy and tired after a few full on days. Eventually I get him through his maths but it was a real hard slog.

I can see that any attempts to do anything else will just result in a meltdown, so once he's finished, fed and watered I suggest, free play.

Owen isn't fairing any better, so I go through exactly the same struggle with him...sigh.

Owen decided he would like to continue with his story..

Sam did his maths whilst I showered and tidied round.

Then we worked on his Space Diary.

Finding out why fitness is important in space.

How space effects the body.

What nutrition astronauts need and how they get it.

How much they need to eat and what foods travel best in space.

Owen did some work on Scribblenauts first, then moved on to his maths programme. I have to remind him to take big breaths and actually work the problems out. He thinks that randomly stabbing the screen will get him results. It turns out it doesn't, and he screams at me. I resist screaming back and talk him down..he moves on and does well...funny how actually doing the working out can get results.
*massive eye roll*

To finish off we work in Owens letter formation. He does the 'I am having a poo face' but actually enjoys it once we start. I make jokes and show him how starting the letters in a certain place helps it form more smoothly. He really wants to learn to write clearly, but thinks it can be done via mind control and osmosis. I explain that he can do it with practice and doing a bit per day, will really help it become automatic for his hand and brain. He wants to write stories but can't get them down.

It's always a slow start in a Wednesday, because the boys are tired from Ju jitsu class the night before.
Sam gets up and cracks on quite easily..once he stopped lapping the kitchen table and talking at a million miles an hour...ahem...

He does a few extra sessions this morning. He said he just 'felt like it'. Then he has a shower... I am relieved I have at least on child who is willing to wash.

Owen is still being difficult to engage. I manage to get him through breakfast and he briefly tries to wind me up. We finally get down to some work but he's trying to rearrange everything. Eventually we land on a plan to suit us both.

He works on his maths ( half arsedly) to start with.

Then asks if he can practice his letters for a set time. I agree as long as he understands this doesn't mean write 5 letters then mess around for the reminding time. He laughs ( I was obviously ahead of him), then actually knuckles down and turns out some good work.

It then goes Pete Tong as he needs a shower and to brush his teeth. Personal hygiene is a war zone with him. He employs every tactic, including shouting, as I insist he needs to do these two things. There is stomping...he goes upstairs but there is a chance he's going to run the shower sit on the loo and not brush his teeth. It's utterly frustrating.

After getting Owen through his 'stuff' we have our lunch and get ready to go out to our regular meet up with friends. There is much hilarity in the car between Sam and his friend as they make up puns. Owen spends most of the afternoon doing a very good impression of both Kevin and Perry rolled into one.

Sam is up and out the door with me at 6 am for a 3km walk. We enjoy watching the sun rise and he tells me 'all the things' ...at once...quickly. *blink*

The next morning we work on maths before our friends come over. Owen also makes sure his pet is well looked after and works through his routine well today.

Sam and I got up early and went for a long walk. We enjoyed watching the sunrise.

Here's my face looking exhausted after 4km of non stop talking. I am glad his medication review is next week. He's not sleeping long and completely hyper and increasingly inattentive. I regret not taking the consultant up on her offer to increase it 6 months ago because is been exhausting for all of us for about 4 months now 😂😱

It's Blokeys long weekend with his days off. We go to the dentists in the morning and to see a film in the afternoon.
We all throughly enjoyed the film.

Afterwards we had a meal out, Owen loves the Mocktails, so tried a new one...'delicious'.

We all liked the skull on Blokeys beer.

A huge milkshake for Sam. After the main course he was very tired and wasn't coping well. We decided to skip dessert and grab something back at home.

There were a few tears from a very tired Sam at bedtime. Owen settled ok but Sam had restless legs and only managed about 2 hours sleep. He woke me at 2 am and although chirpy , he was a donkey on the edge. He still managed a full day, playing chess and going to the park.

Owen watched some TV but spent most of his time with Sam and his friends at the park.

The next day Sam managed a lie in. Owen was the first up ( very unusual) and went out to play as soon as his friend called round. Sam wanted to go in a bike ride with his dad, so him and Blokey set off . Sam then joined Owen and his friends at the playarea and Blokey collected the bus to do some more work in it.

They all dash in and ate a rushed lunch before going back outside to play/work.
